3 Days in Glasgow (Part 2)
Day 3: Glasgow City Centre, The Lighthouse, DRAM! Whisky Bar
Our goal for our third day in Glasgow was to pass the day away with activities until it was a socially acceptable time to go to a whisky (yes, whisky – not whiskey) bar. Scotland is known for its whisky, and this was another ‘must-do’ while in Glasgow.
Our first stop was The Lighthouse in the city centre. We were told The Lighthouse boasts great views of Glasgow from its tower, and is a good spot to learn more about the city’s unique architecture. We arrived and headed for the elevator to proceed to the viewing platform, however, there was a group of tourists already trapped inside said elevator (who had apparently been stuck for about 45 mins!). At first we thought that was it, but a staff member directed us to a spiral staircase behind one of the building’s exhibits which ran up to a higher viewing balcony than the elevator. The views were awesome and the climb was great cardio.
Later, we ate some delicious haddock tacos, then everyone watched Desta eat a large brownie and ice cream dessert to herself. After dessert, it was finally time! To the whisky (or Scotch? …We’re still confused about exactly what to call it) bar!
We soaked up the rest of the rain that Glasgow had to offer us, and it was back on the tube to the flat.
The next morning we said “goodbye for now” to Scotland (we’ll be returning again at the end of October), and then we were off to the airport to head to our next destination, Munich, home to one of the world’s most well known festivals, Oktoberfest! We got into Munich late, so no sightseeing to report quite yet! Tomorrow, we’ll be dressed in our finest Bavarian outfits, ready to take on Oktoberfest!
So glad you two are enjoying the adventure so far. Since whisey is my favorite alcohol; I think I would have had a happy face after a sip. When you return to Scotland, see if you can capture a photo of Honor. It’s been ages since we’ve seen her. xoxox
too bad you didn’t like the scotch…but the faces are hilarious. It certainly is an acquired taste…and I have it.
Cheers
